Now we know, the matter what we see, all the planets, stars, galaxies and everything between them, and the matter what we are built from only around 4-5% of everything that the universe is. Around three-quarters of the everything is the dark energy, almost a quarter is dark matter, and the leftover is the regular matter, what we are built from, and what we are able to experience in a direct way. How insignificant the ordinary matter, and how insignificant we are, who are built from it.
Are we really the insignificant leftover of the universe? Are we really the unimportant part? Probably not. It may be true that the regular matter, the kind that we are built from, only a small part of the whole universe, but the significance is not always correlated to the ratio.
We do not know what dark matter and dark energy are. We see the significant effect of these kinds of things on the whole universe, but we do not know the details of how these are operating. They could be different worlds with high complexity, which only interact with ordinary matter in a reduced way. We do not know. However, most likely even if they are the major portion of the whole universe, still they are simple structures, able to create less complexity than our ordinary matter. Our ordinary matter maybe is not a significant factor defining the evolution of the universe as a whole. However, even if dark matter and dark energy are important factors in the life of the universe, still they are only little factors of all the happenings in the universe. All of what is going on things depend more on the structure and complexity, not the size or portion of the whole.
Our ordinary matter even if it is only a small portion of the entire universe, and may not affect significantly the evolution of the universe, most of the happening happen on, with, and by the ordinary matter. This is the kind of matter, which is capable of creating complexity, complex structures, different atoms, molecules, planets, stars, and galaxies, creates life and brains, and consciousness. And ultimately, this is the matter, which creates structures that want to understand itself and everything besides it.
This is the significance of the 4%.
