To have everything means to have the universe. Of course, the universe is not in our possession. Instead, having the universe means we are capable of comprehending it. We are capable of comprehending that we are alive, that we are part of the universe as a conscious individual. Who do we thank for this?
To have consciousness, we must have a brain. Not every brain is capable of comprehending but undoubtedly, those living organism which can comprehend, have to have a brain. But who do we thank for giving us a brain? We have to thank those ancestors who had chosen to eat other living things.
Why is eating other living things necessary to have a brain? Because to eat other living things, an organism needs to be capable of finding, to chase, and sometimes to flee. If I ate only inorganic food, I would not need to find it, since it will find me, like it happens in the case of plants. Plants consume light, water, and carbon dioxide. And plants do not need a brain. Movement is necessary to search, to find, to chase, and to be chased, and for an organism to move, it needs information processing. To be capable of moving, needs active information processing, for example, one needs to be able to orient in the environment. And this information processing drove us to have a brain and ultimately drove us to be capable of comprehending the universe.
It is the first animal that we have to thank for having everything.
